tac is a young and successful translation and communication office located in the heart of Berlin. tac was founded in 2000 by Ashley Marc Slapp, Diplom-Fachübersetzer.

Ashley Marc Slapp, who was born and grew up in Nottingham, England, successfully completed his Technical Translation studies (electrical and mechanical engineering) at the University of Hildesheim, Germany. The University of Hildesheim is renowned both nationally and internationally in the field of Translation / Applied Linguistics.

In 2004 Ashley Marc Slapp published his first book "Community Interpreting in Deutschland - Gegenwärtige Situation und Perspektiven für die Zukunft" (Community Interpreting in Germany – Present Situation and Perspectives for the Future). The book deals with the interesting topic of Community Interpreting – a type of interpreting which, unfortunately, is not widely recognised. It is published by Martin Meidenbauer and is the first part of the InterPartes series – studies on interpreting.

Ashley Marc Slapp not only writes books, but also translates them! In 2004 he translated "Wie das Meer nach Hause kam. Die Erfindung des Aquariums" by the Berlin-based author Bernd Brunner. The English version entitled
"The Ocean at Home" and published by Princeton Architectural Press, New York City, hit the bookshops in May 2005. See book review:
